CONSTRUCTION THIEF SCARED OFF BY ALARMS; LEFT EMPTY-HANDED

The price of lumber fell significantly after setting new record highs in May 2021. However, construction theft remains to be highly active, as criminals still have their eyes set on lumber and other materials.

“The prices of other materials, such as drywall and copper, remain near all-time highs.”

We can rest a little easier now that the ‘lumber price’ bubble has popped, but the priority of construction site security should remain at an all time high. When your project suffers a loss, it costs money, time, missed deadlines, and causes enormous frustration, resulting in a negative financial impact.

In some cases, the threat is not from outside of the jobsite that you need to be wary of.

Jobsite theft committed by employees is also a growing problem in the industry, and it can be much more difficult to stop.

Incident Description

On July 4 – Independence Day, SentriForce detected a trespasser sneaking into a construction property.

The trespasser was observed sneaking around the construction site.

The construction superintendent was contacted for authorization.

The suspect began to tamper with construction materials and displayed evident signs of criminal intentions.

SentriForce immediately activated audible sirens.

The suspect scrambles to exit the construction property and drives hastily away empty-handed.
