Arlington Police Arrests Drunk Driver
A drunk driver was observed driving erratically and parking on a monitored construction project and ultimately arrested by the Arlington Police because of SentriForce monitoring center.
Incident Description:
On April 22, 2021 at 11:28 PM, SentriForce Monitoring Center observed a vehicle driving erratically onto a monitored construction property and park.
Audible alarms were enabled, but the unauthorized vehicle remained on the property.
The construction project superintendent was made aware of the situation and police were dispatched to the site.
Shortly after a police officer arrives, approaches the vehicle, and confronts the driver.
The driver was removed from the vehicle and questioned.
Several more officers arrived later and performed a standard 3 field sobriety test on the driver.
- The horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN)
- The walk-and-turn
- The one-leg stand test
The driver was observed passing the horizontal gaze nystagmus.
During the walk-and-turn test, it seems the driver was attempting to buy time and make excuses.
The driver proceeded to fail the walk-and-turn test and was immediately arrested.
The one-leg stand test was no longer necessary.
End of Incident Description.
While this trespasser had no intentions of committing theft on the construction site, we are glad to have played a part in the arrest of the drunk driver.
A drunk driver poses a threat to everyone else and themselves.
