THIEF DISGUISED AS CONSTRUCTION WORKER GETS ARRESTED

In this video, we arrested a thief disguised as a construction worker, trespassing onto a fenced construction project, and stealing material in the middle of the night.

Trespassers can impact your construction project in many negative ways. There are no positive benefits to having minimal security, yet we see many construction properties that are defenseless.

This type of habit only helps to perpetuate the idea that construction sites are easy targets for theft.

Incident description

On 7/9/2021 at approximately 11:22pm SentriForce Central Station observed a white truck that drove into camera view and parked near the entry gate of the property. An individual exited the vehicle and gained access to the property. CS activated audible alarms, however the individual remained on the site and grabbed an item on the property. The second POC was reached and made aware of the situation while police were dispatched to the property. The officers that arrived around 11:45pm searched the area and appeared to have confronted the truck that had parked near the entry gate. Tow trucks later came into camera view and towed the vehicle off the property.

Why are criminals attracted to construction projects?

Construction projects are seen as easy targets for thieves. Due to the ever-changing nature of construction sites, with expensive equipment and materials left in the open, criminals often find opportunities that are presented to them on a silver platter.

How do you deter and reduce criminal activity at your construction site?

There are many different levels of construction site security solutions that you can employ to improve the security of your job sites. However, some criminal activities require a proactive and reactive security solution in order to modify their behavior.

We recommend live video monitoring in conjunction with basic level security measures like, Perimeter fencing, access control, signage, and lighting.

Live video monitoring is a service that is often included or offered with managed video surveillance. Live video monitoring gives your construction site a staff of trained professional surveillance monitors remotely surveilling the property through the managed security surveillance system deployed.

If any potential threats or trespassers are detected, live video monitoring personnel have the ability to remotely engage alarms on the intruders and dispatch law enforcement if necessary.

Live video monitoring is more effective in both performance and price than onsite security guards. Video is recorded 24/7, more areas of the property are under surveillance, and costs only a fraction of the price of security guards.
